I (and I assume everyone else) am so used to reading an album/single's peak position, followed by the number of weeks it has spent on the chart, means it makes for a really confusing browsing experience to have them reversed in the new-look site. That is, what appears at first glance to be a record making an impressive showing at Number One with 50 weeks spent on the charts, say, turns out – once one has remembered and accounted for the backwards layout – to be a rather less impressive Number 50 entry spending one week on the chart. It's definitely a frustration and annoyance having to adjust for this issue with every entry I read... |

VelvetAndroid 2012-10-25 15:14 Delete | Heh, that's brilliant – thanks very much, hadn't been in in a few weeks to discover this before but it's a great help once one has readjusted, having eventually sort of got used to the previous iteration, but I've now adapted smoothly to the 'traditionbal' arrangement once more...
Yes it did confuse for a few minutes, because I registered the change while I was reading Van Morrison's album chart history (which was unfamiliar to me) and honestly couldn't work out which column was which for a while there, the more so because all his pre-1990 albums peaked lower and spent fewer weeks on the chart than I would have thought, so seeing the likes of 23—5, 27—6, 21—8 I could very well presume these denoted weeks first then peak position second still, particularly with 32—2 for Moondance and 41—1 for Veedon Fleece... but no, it's definitely position then weeks after all! |
havemeforty 2012-11-03 17:04 Delete | Velvet Android, the reason why I had to merge Leftfield/Afrika Bambataa and Leftfield/Roots Manuva to Leftfield was because I was completely tired to go into 3 pages of the artist instead of 1. It confuses me completely. |
